A quick note to my Second Chance family...

We've had an incredible 5 weeks in Greenville (over 20 salvations, averaging close to 400 every week!)

However, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are putting our Greenville campus on pause while we look for another facility to meet in.

(In other words - we will no longer be meeting at Marathon Church on Saturday nights at 5 - effective immediately!)

Second Chance Greenville Campus Is On Pause

As I've said before - this is, hands down, the global situation is the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life...


...it's also an opportunity for the church to step up and make a difference.


We should absolutely continue to pray for our leaders, health care workers and those we know who may be sick...


...but, we should also be the hands and feet of Jesus to the community we are in.


There is a local ministry called, "The Lot Project" that has been operating in Anderson for years. 

They absolutely do ministry in our community by serving the poor and forgotten in ways that are amazing.


During this season we are partnering with them.


In addition to partnering with them financially - we also reached out and asked them what their greatest need is right now...


...and...their #1 need is non perishable food...

So - let's not just pray about this--but participate by going out, doing some shopping and meeting a need right here in our community.


We will be having a drop off this coming Thursday (March 26) from 10:00am - 2:00pm at the physical location of the church (140 Commons Parkway, Anderson, SC 29621).


All you will need to do is pull up to the church and someone will walk out to your car and receive what you bring. We kindly ask that you not get out of your car/gather inside so we may be respectful of what's being asked of us by our local and national leaders - once again, just pull up and someone will come to your car.


Thank you in advance Second Chance for doing this - it's going to make a difference in the lives of so many people who feel forgotten during this season.


Let's step up and do whatever we can to make happen.

Making A Difference

I've honestly never seen the world deal with this much uncertainty!

Just like many of you - I have scratched my head on more than one occasion and asked, "what is happening God?"

However, in all of this I feel the Lord continually bringing me back to 

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Jesus promised we would have trials and sorrows.

Jesus reminds us that He has overcome the world (and - if He lives in us, that means we overcome as well!)


Our goal at Second Chance Church during this season is to be as encouraging as possible through as many ways as possible.


Unfortunately - due to the seriousness of the situation, we will be doing online church only for an indefinite period of time.


Like many of you - I miss everyone so much and want us to get back together at our physical location as soon as possible.


However, I also want to be responsible as a leader and make sure that we, as a church, are making the best decision for all it will impact.


And - just like I said last week, even though we may be separated physically - we are NOT separated spiritually. We saw an incredible increase in our online attendance last weekend - and know of at least six people who gave their lives to Christ!


This week we are starting a brand new series on the book of Esther called, "Pieces" where we will be dealing with the question, "What do you do when it feels like God has given up on you?"
This will be an incredible opportunity to get someone you know who may really be hurting or struggling during this time to join you/us online.


Our broadcast times will be the same - 8:30, 10:00, 11:30 am and 5pm.


I love you guys and miss you all so much! Please stay safe--and make sure your loved ones have plenty of toilet paper!!

An Update From Pastor P

I've never experienced a time of uncertainty like this in my entire life as the world has been impacted by COVID-19 pandemic.

There is not one single person reading this right now that hasn't experienced the impact of this virus - whether through school, work or social activities being canceled.

II Timothy 1:7 says - "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

First of all - as followers of Christ we cannot allow fear to dominate our mindset. Even though I have personally never seen anything like this - I know God is in complete control right now and will use all of this for good.

While we do not have the spirit of fear - we do have the spirit of power...and specifically when it comes to church leadership - the power to make decisions that are best for everyone.

That being said - we ARE going to move the Gospel forward, we ARE going to continue to see lives changed and we ARE going to continue meeting...

...however, this coming Sunday at Second Chance we will be meeting through our online service...as we have made the decision not to gather together physically.

While we know we have to be responsible and practice social distancing - we do not have to be spiritually distant.

Not only the spirit of power--but the spirit of love.

Jesus said that people would know we are His followers by the way we love one another...
Yesterday I put out a post on social media about not panicking, not letting the media overhype this and drive us crazy...

...that being the case I personally wanted us to gather together physically until I was reminded that loving one another means that we > me!

This wasn't a decision that was made lightly or out of fear - but out of genuine love for all of the people who call Second Chance home.

In order to advance in our walk in any area of life - we must be disciplined in our steps.
Based on the fact that the national and state of SC has declared a state of emergency - I personally believe it would be irresponsible and undisciplined for us to gather together this weekend until we can gain further clarity on this situation.

So - we ARE meeting this Sunday - online - at 8:30, 10, 11:30 and 5 (same times!) Let's work together and get this word out to as many people as possible...maybe, just maybe God will use this to reach people who would have never actually came to church - but are willing to watch online.

I will keep everyone updated as we monitor this situation - for now this will effect this Sunday only - and from there we will wait and see.

I love you all so much - and honestly, this isn't too big of a switch for us - because we actually started online and met that way for over a year!!

This pandemic is a serious issue - but - we are praying and believing for miracles, for a quick medical solution - and believing with all our hearts that the best really is yet to come.
